This stunning table lamp base is made in the UK from quality solid beech. I hand paint each one using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint followed by an application of wax for sealing and protection.
This classic and versatile Heritage design works well with both French Drum and Drum shape lampshades.
This base is available in 16 Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colours:
OLD WHITE: The colour of chalk and gesso, Old White is a soft off-white Chalk Paint® colour that works with everything.
ATHENIAN BLACK: A true, deep black Chalk Paint colour developed to reflect the opaque figures and dramatic silhouetted shapes painted on Ancient Greek ceramics.
BURGUNDY: The colour of dark cherries, Burgundy is a deep warm red Chalk Paint colour that finds its early inspiration in Pompeii. It also has a strong a strong neoclassical heritage, making it perfect for sophisticated painted furniture.
GREEK BLUE: A strong blue Chalk Paint colour inspired by the hue found throughout the Mediterranean, on rustic doors, shutters and furniture often faded and distressed. It’s also a colour that works well in a neoclassical interior deepened a little with dark wax.
OXFORD NAVY BLUE: An inky, traditional navy blue Chalk Paint colour which evokes the strong, august blue of academic insignia and fountain pens, as well as the rich pigment indigo blue so synonymous with traditional Indian block printing.
AUBUSSON BLUE: Named after the blue found in classic Aubusson rugs from France, this dark teal Chalk Paint® colour is inspired directly by the development of Prussian Blue in the late 18th Century. It’s the perfect colour for a Swedish interior.
GIVERNY BLUE: Giverny is a bright blue Chalk Paint colour. A cool, clean colour, it is near the greener range of blues, without any red in it. Named after the village in Northern France where Claude Monet lived, this brilliant blue was especially popular in early 20th Century interiors and is perfect for a mid-century to modern contemporary palette.
AMSTERDAM GREEN: This deep, dark green Chalk Paint colour takes inspiration from the painted shutters and doors of Amsterdam. It works particularly well with whites and creams and botanical imagery and plants, as well as looking brilliant with earthy yellows and reds.
ENGLISH YELLOW: This bright yellow Chalk Paint® colour is inspired by the development of Chrome Yellow pigment – the first non-earthy yellow used in 19th Century English drawing rooms – as well as the yellow found in Chinese hand-painted wallpaper. It’s also a great fifties vintage colour.
BARCELONA ORANGE: This vivacious, dark orange Chalk Paint colour is based on the modern colour used copiously by the Impressionists, in early advertisements and in 1960’s decoration. Such a brilliant orange was not available until the early 20th century.
HENRIETTA PINK: A lilac pink Chalk Paint colour, Henrietta was inspired by the Grand Tours of the 18th Century where this sophisticated pink was found in the finest houses of Europe as part of gentle neoclassical schemes.
OLD VIOLET: Like deep Parma violets or blue lavender, Old Violet is a Chalk Paint colour inspired by the purple found in 18th Century interiors as well as ancient Rome. Beautiful on its own or paired with red for a little Parisian boho.
GRAPHITE GREY: Graphite is a soft charcoal black Chalk Paint colour inspired by Lamp Black, a traditional pigment. It works for many interiors from neoclassical to modern. When waxed, it becomes a beautiful black like dark slate.
CHICAGO GREY: A cool, fresh and modern grey Chalk Paint colour, with a hint of blue. Suggestive of the architecture in Chicago, it’s the perfect neutral for industrial interiors, or muted Scandinavian styling.
EMILE PURPLE: A soft purple Chalk Paint colour with warm pink undertones, Emile has a rich complexity that makes beautifully sophisticated lilacs when mixed with Old White. An aubergine colour first used by artists and then later in decorative work, Emile finds its beginnings in bohemian Paris.
LOUIS BLUE: A soft pastel blue Chalk Paint® colour reminiscent of Rococo French and Swedish interiors. Pair this clean, cool blue with white for a fine Rococo look or combine with brights for a vintage retro aesthetic.
ANTIBES GREEN: The neoclassical palette included this bright emerald green Chalk Paint, sometimes pure and sometimes lightened with white. The colour is also found on rustic country furniture from Ireland and the south of France.
CAPRI PINK: Named after the upscale Italian island resort, Capri Pink is inspired by the vivid bright pinks which populate folk palettes around the globe, from Mexican textiles to Pakistani truck art to Romany gypsy caravan interiors. Capri Pink is a true hot pink with depth and energy, provocative yet captivating.
